“Excuse me, Sir”. All heads turned towards the entrance to find a pretty girl standing there. Rachel is newly joining the school, a week after its re-opening.
Was it the breeze actually or just a cinematic imagination? Was there a silence in real or has he gone momentarily deaf? Pip never believed in love at first sight. After all, he is still in his 8th class and piled up too many ambitions by now good enough for him to not find time for love in life. But, is everything going to be changed?
8 yrs later…
The rain has faded and the evening sun is neatly casting his rays after victoriously draining the clouds. Pip is lonely waiting on the park bench with a rose and a couple of greetings in his hand and a backpack. He looks tensed and deeply lost in thoughts. After all, he is meeting her for the first time in 6 yrs. All prepared to propose in the first meeting itself. He wants her to realize that he has been longing for her all these yrs. It has been a tough run to keep all the emotions to himself. He doesn’t even know if she is still single. But he believed, she is made for him and his true love gets him all the way. Here is the chance. A chance, to prove his love. A chance, for all his past years to make sense. This is the day for which he has been waiting for. He is lost in the thoughts of ‘how to put it’ to her.
“Annaaa, Ball Please”. A bunch of asynchronously chorus sounds brought him back. He walked towards the ball in front of him and threw it to the boys who yelled for it from about 200yards.
“Thanks Anna”. A guy shouted after catching the ball.
Pip looked at his cell phone for time. He always hated carrying a watch on his hand. It is quarter past five. He was supposed to meet Rachel at five and though he hurried to the park half an hour early, it is still late from her side. ‘After all, not everyone likes to go out on wet roads’ he thought to himself and sat back on the bench.
to be contd…
P.S.: Took the title and name ‘Pip’ from one of my fav books, ‘The great Expectations’
